Cover is addressed to Dr. Gustavus. Adolphus Rose (1788-1860), president of the Board of Trustees of the LaPorte Medical College (later the Indiana Medical College). He was born in Geddes Virginia, practiced medicine in Lynchburg and moved to LaPorte in 1835.
