The initials appear to be ACM. The C & M are connected but the ink is too faded to tell if the A is also connected.
Cover dated JAN 9, 1846 and addressed to Clifford & Brigham, the law firm of John H. Clifford and Lincoln F. Brigham. Mr. Clifford went on to become Attorney General and later, in 1853, governor of Massachusetts. Mr. Brigham later became chief justice of the Superior court.
