Lot 54 St. Louis, Mo., 1845, 10¢ black on greenish (11X2), type III, position 6, large margins to cutting at right, bright color on well preserved paper, cancelled by pen strokes and tied by red "St. Louis Mo. Jul. 2" c.d.s. on 1846 folded letter to Charnley & Whelen in Philadelphia, matching red "Paid" and manuscript "10" rate, sender's instructions at lower left, "via Terre Haute", Very Fine usage.
