Lot 44 St. Louis, Mo., 1845, 10¢ black on greenish (11X2), type III, position 6, large margins, bright rich color on crisp paper, and without the usual pen cancel tied by red "St. Louis Mo. Nov. 22" c.d.s. on 1845 folded letter to Charnley & Whelen of Philadelphia, matching "Paid" handstamp and manuscript "10" rate, Extremely Fine, a gorgeous usage.
