In 1846-47 Mr. Thomas J. Coggeshall of Taunton, Mass., was treasurer of the Parker Mills of Wareham, Mass. They owned and operated the Tremont Nail Company. About 1926, the nail factory was bought by the Eastern nail Company of Providence. A. B. Slater was President of the Eastern Nail Company, and, in examining the Wareham plant, found in the attic of the office all the old correspondence of 1846-58. The stamped covers and many of the stampless ones went directly into the Providence collection.
