Notes
Black on Bluish, "ACM" Initials (9X1). Position 7, double transfer at top, large margins mostly all around, just touched at bottom, tied by red "Paid" in arc, second strike at left, bold orange-red "Washington City D.C. Nov. 4" (circa 1845) circular datestamp and matching "5" rate handstamp on folded cover addressed to Mrs. Eliza Schuyler with New York City street address, Very Fine, one of three recorded usages of the New York provisional from Washington; the others also have street addresses and were handled by the U.S. City Despatch Post carrier, who applied the "U.S." in octagon marking; although this cover does not have the "U.S." handstamp, the street address indicates that it was probably intended for carrier delivery; ex Grunin and from the Weill sale, with 1970 P.F. certificate
