Lot 584 5c Black MMJr initials (9X1c), full even margins all around, faint but legible initials, tied by red square grid, matching PAID arc and New York 5 cts Mar 2 (c. 1847) folded cover to Pompton NJ, slightly soaked.
Philip Wall reciords four examples of the MMJr provisional. Two are in a pair on a cover front addressed to Elder Alex Campbell in Bethany Virginia. These were the discovery copies of the MMJr and were found in 1833. About one month later, the third copy on cover (this lot) was discovered. Another copy off cover was found in 1974/
