Augustus S. Porter (January 18, 1769 – June 10, 1849) was an American businessman, judge, farmer, and politician who served as an Assemblyman for the state of New York (1802=1803). He was the first judge to serve in Niagara County and later became postmaster.
Reverse docketed Revd A. Stevens, New York, Nov 16, 1843 (?).
Letter datelined New York Sept 16 1843 and signed Alex H. Stevens. The 1845 edition of Doggett’s lists Alexander Hodgdon Stevens (1789-1869) as the president of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of the University of the State of New York (1841-1855) at 687 Broadway. The school later became part of Columbia University.
