The cover was submitted to the US City Despatch Post on July 16, 1844 and was scheduled to be delivered at 4 o’clock. Apparently the letter could not be delivered at that time so it was returned to the office and delivered the next morning.
Hendricks & Brothers were in the copper business at 93 Water Street (1845 Doggett’s). Individuals listed at this address include Henry, Montague M., and Uriah Hendricks
