Dated to 1843 by Calvet Hahn, The Beginnings of Adhesive Postage in the US Part 6 (The Penny Post Vol 9, No. 1 Jan 2001 p51) based on the Type 1 double ring CDS and Oct 1842 being too early for a stamp on green glazed paper.
James Lawson (1799-1880) was the vice president of the Washington Marine Insurance Co., at 46 Wall Street in 1843 (Doggett’s), from 1837 until his death.
