JOSEPH SACKETT, son of Nathaniel Sackett and Bethiah Reynolds, was born in about 1798 and died aged 53 in December 1851. He married Anna Augusta Downing, daughter of George Downing. Anna was born in about 1813 and baptized as an adult at All Saints Church, New York City, on 25 September 1842. She was confirmed at All Saints Church on 2 April 1843 and removed from the church in May 1845. Her address at that date was 30 Rutgers Street. She died at Brick Church, New Jersey, on 13 December 1886.
Joseph was for many years engaged with his brother James in the wholesale carpet trade in New York City

According to the All Saint’s Parish register, when Anna was baptized in 1842 she was already married to Joseph, but her father probably always thought of her as Miss Anna Downing.
