Letter to Cornelius Van Wyck Lawrence (1791-1861). He served in the US Congress (1832-34), Mayor of New York City (1834-37), Collector of the Port of NY under President Polk and for twenty years, he held the office of President of the Bank of the State of New-York. He was Director of the Branch Bank of the United States, of the Bank of America, a trustee of the New-York Life and Trust Company, and a director in various insurance companies.
The 1845 edition of Doggett’s lists Samuel Osgood as an auctioneer at the foot of Burling slip in NYC.
