Letter written to John William Creemer Leveridge (1817-1896), lawyer in New York who partnered with his father, John William Chase Leveridge (1792-1886) at 145 Cherry Street. The name John was common in the family [Jno’s. grandparents were John Leveridge (1757-1812) and Anna Chase (-1848)].
The younger John W. C. Leveridge was a graduate of Columbia University, studied law with his father and was a lawyer for the East River Savings Bank (founded by his father) for 50 years.
In public records, John (the father) did not use his middle initials and the son used the spelling on this cover.
