Reverse: Schuyler Sep 5, 1843 plus note about repair of a fence (cover must have been used for scrap) & Lazarus 4/64 (cover sale?) - from EBAY lot (buystamps)

The 1845 edition of Doggett’s lists Fisher Howe as a commission merchant at 61 Pine Street. He is not listed in 1842-3.
Fisher Howe (1798-1871) was a resident of Brooklyn, married first to Matilda Saltonstall (1796-1831) and second to Elizabeth Leavitt (1815-1899) Matilda was a younger sister of Leverett Saltonstall who's daughter was the recipient of many covers in the 1847 census (Lucy Saltonstall Tuckerman of Salem Mass, sent in care of her mother.)
Various Brooklyn city directories mention Fisher Howe as living in Brooklyn and working in Manhattan but there is no reference to an address at 165 Front Street (although an 1854 directory lists 160 Front Street.)
