Henry Rowe Schoolcraft (1793-1864) is listed as a vice president of the Ethnological Society (1845 Doggett’s). He was a geologist, geographer, and ethnologist noted for his studies on Native Americans as well as his 1832 expedition to find the source of the Mississippi River. He moved to New York in 1841 but spent a lot of time traveling to the west and Europe.
