Addressed to a Mr. Sanford. (Several found in 1848 Doggett’s.) Docketed April 1848. Not sure what the second line reads.
Endorsed “US City Desp. Post Blue Glazed Paper found on this letter in 1883, E. H Sanford,” probably a descendant of the original recipient.
If the April 1848 date is real, this cover was mailed beyond the timeframe when the Post was part of the US Post Office. However, nothing about this cover looks real, other than the stamp.
