PF 145324: The Stamp Did Not Originate On This Cover THAT WAS CARRIED OUT OF THE MAILS TO THE POST OFFICE
According to Siegel sale 862 lot 40, in its history of the uses of 6LB7, “there is a stamp off cover, previously affixed to a cover dated Oct. 29 (1845 or 1846), but which did not originate.”
This is undoubltly that cover (and the stamp has since been removed).
Addressed to Mrs. John P. Clark. Her husband was a commercial merchant at 213 Pearl Street.
