Robert A. Siegel sale 980 lot 2973 realized 160 dates the folded letter as Oct 23.
Rovert A. Siegel sale 745 lot 245 realized 400 notes scallopped backflap and dates the cover as OCT 25.
Illustrated in the Kapiloff exhibit (courtesy of Richard C. Frajola) which year dates the cover to 1844.
Cover addressed Mrs. Murdock, Atn. Dr. Brewster’s Orthopedic Institute, Broadway, near Union Square.
Probably refers to Dr. Stephen Coffin Brewster (1804-1847), listed as a physician at 856 Broadway (1845 Doggett’s). Stephen was originally from Boston and is listed in the Class of 1820 at Philips Exeter Academy as age 16.
In the 1842-43 edition of Doggett’s. Stephen Brewster is listed as 60 14th Street. This cover was probably not mailed in 1843.
