Addressed to William H. Hanmer at 109 Pearl Street at Edwd. Bridge’s. 1845 Doggett’s lists Edward Bridge as a merchant at 109 Pearl Street & 60 Beaver.
Edward Bridge & Co. operated primarily as wholesale dealers and commission merchants. They handled massive quantities of imported commodities, straw goods, furs, hats, and regional agricultural trade flowing through the busy Lower Manhattan ports.
William Hanmer worked directly alongside Bridge. He initially served as a high-level agent or associate before his name became explicitly tied to the property's primary merchant listings.
