Letter addressed to William Christopher Uhlhorn (1820-1863), a son of Johann F Uhlhorn and Harriet F. Shattuck from St. Thomas and, later, New Haven Conn. William worked with his brother, Casper Frederick Uhlhorn, a Wall Street broker in New York City (1845 Doggett’s). William married Gertrude Verplanck Hoffmann in Oct 1843 and had three children. In 1847 he is listed as a commission merchant at 106 Front Street and as a cotton broker in 1856.
