St. Louis, Mo., 1846, 10¢ black on gray lilac, ample to large margins except full to barely touching frame line at upper left, neatly tied by red "St. Louis Mo. Mar. 3" c.d.s. which effectively leaves most of design uncancelled, handsome color and fresh paper, on 1846 folded letter from the Charnley Whelen find, manuscript.
