Benjamin F. Hickman (1810-1871). At age 20 he served as deputy for Clerk Francis P. Blair for the Court at Frankfort, Kentucky. Studied law, admitted to the bar abound 1831 and served 2 terms in the Kentucky legislature. Fought in the Black Hawk war in 1832. Moved to St Louis in 1851 and practiced law before moving to Jefferson City in 1843. Editor of the political paper called The Metropolitan. Appointed as Clerk to the United States Court in St. Louis (1848) and was also Clerk of the District Court.
