Horizontal pair, full to large margins, striking pre-printing paper fold which was opened up prior to application of the "ACM" initials, without manuscript cancel, each stamp cancelled by neat strike of red "Paid" handstamp, third strike at right, on 1846 folded cover to Norwich Conn., ms. "10" rating, pair lifted and shifted slightly right, right stamp affected by file fold (our indicator of origination), cover with small tear at top
EXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE AND UNUSUAL PAIR OF THE NEW YORK PROVISIONAL WITH A PRE-PRINTING PAPER FOLD.
It is unusual for New York provisional covers not to have a New York circular datestamp.
