New York N.Y., 5c Black, "ACM" Initials (9X1). Position 17, clear to large margins, tied by blue pen strokes and red "New-York 5 cts. 30 Dec." integral-rate circular datestamp, matching "Paid" arc handstamp on 1845 folded letter, originated in Norfolk and forwarded to Baltimore, sent from Norfolk to New York unpaid with partly clear strike of "Norfolk Va. Dec. 26" circular datestamp and manuscript "10" due notation for the over-300 miles rate (partly covered over by the Provisional stamp), second leg of the journey was under 300 miles so the single New York Provisional sufficed, file fold thru the stamp which has a couple tiny flaws at top, overall Very Fine, a scarce and desirable use
