Large even margins all around, tied by red "Paid" in arc, second strike at right, matching "New-York 5 cts. 22 Oct." integral-rate circular datestamp on light green 1845 folded cover to Paris, France, clear strike of red "Colonies & Art. 12" framed accountancy handstamp, French transits and due marking, some overall wear, Very Fine, a desirable usage to France with the red "Colonies & Art." handstamp

SINGLE, RED "PAID" CANCEL, ON FOLDED ADDRESS SHEET, FORWARDED UNDER COVER FROM MEXICO, ADDRESSED TO PARIS, RED NEW YORK PMK AT RIGHT AND RED "COLONIES/&c. ART. 12" ACCOUNTANCY HDSTP AT TOP CENTER, 1845 LONDON TRANSIT PMK ON REVERSE.
AND WE ARE OF THE OPINION THAT
IT IS A GENUINE USAGE, THE STAMP WITH HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL CREASES AND A 2mm PORTION OF THE UPPER LEFT SECTION OF THE "C" IN "ACM" PAINTED IN.
1845 Mexico to Paris (5c postmaster) 1845 FL originating in Mexico and addressed to Paris. It was carried inside another letter by a U.S. ship to New York, where it was forwarded by "Juan de la Granja", with 5c New York Postmaster Provisional added on October 22, 1845, tied by red "Paid", paying postage to Boston. There it was placed aboard the Cunard steamer "Hibernia" departing November 1st, via Halifax to Liverpool, arriving November 18th. Passing through London where the "Colonies and Art. 12" Anglo-French exchange mark was supplied, it arrived in France on November 21st, with 15 decimes charged to the recipient, fine and rare letter.
The cover has a presale estimate of $7,500.
