Some restoration to the cover, Fine appearance and of the highest order of rarity. Ex-Ferrari, with P.F. Certificate (Unpriced on the white envelope, cat. $32,500.00 on the bluish)

Lot 799 5c red on white entire, magenta signature (8IX1) , very fine impression of the provisional marking, red July 23, 1845 new Haven datestamp on fresh entire addressed by Professor Benjamin Silliman to Mrs. Prof. Oliver P. Hubbard, Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire, slight horizontal filing fold ending in nicks, expertly silked on the inside, Ferrary and Colson handstamps in bottom right corner.
Very Fine. The finest of two recorded complete entires on white paper and the earliest known usage for any of the New Haven provisionals. An extremely important United States Postmasters' Provisional cover. Ex, Ferrary (sale 3, lot 567). Unpriced in Scott. Est. $60,000-80,000
