US SCOTT #1 1847 COVER. POSTMARKED BOSTON
FAMILIAL LETTER CONTENTS
EBAY lot (rschollstamps, Randy Scholl Stamps) - images
Not listed in Alexander
Letter datelined South Boston, Dec 12, Sunday morning [1847].
Letter addressed to Mrs. Judith H. Sargent and sent in care of George Sargent.
Annisquam is a waterfront neighborhood in the city of Gloucester in Essex County in Massachusetts.
There are many members of the Sargent family in and around Gloucester, Mass in the mid 19th century, including 4 different Georges but I could find no reference to a Judityh H Sargent in Massachusetts around 1850.
The Sargent House Museum in Gloucester was the home of Judith Sargent Murray (1751-1820), an early feminist advocate (but died to early for this cover)
Another Judith Sargent was Judith (Colby) Sargent, wife of Frederick Sargent and mother to George Washington Sargent, but they lived in New Hampshire.
