CDS date is JAN 28. While the left side of the 8 touches the oval around Franklin’s head, somewhat obscuring the digit (8 or 9?0, the right side is indented, indicative of an 8. Further, Alexander’s note in his book says the 1/29/49 cover to Wm McAlister is cancelled by a 5 and not be a townmark, making this a different cover.
