Rev Horatio Gates Jones Sr, (1777-1853) was pastor of Lower Merion Baptist Church for almost half a century.
His son, Horatio Gates Jones Jr (1822-1893) was an attorney and state senator (1874-1882). He long served as foreign corresponding secretary of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.
