Scott #2, 1847 10c Black Washington, with margins large to ample at left and top, just touching at bottom, and in at bottom right. F-VF stamp appearance (though really only Fine), tied by very neat, light, attractive, red SQUARE / DIAMOND GRID cancellation (round grids are common, but we do not see square /diamond very often) and sharp, red NEW-YORK postmark. On 1851 folded letter, with business contents (money collection draft with printed letterhead), to Cleveland, Ohio. Usual filing fold NOT affecting the stamp. Remarkably fresh and attractive cover from the first U.S. government postage stamp issue! (Scott 2019 value $1050.)
