Charles Abbey (1798-1881) founded the firm and partnered with his son, William Russell Abbey (1825-). In 1855, the firm became Charles Abbey & Sons when Charles Olmstead Abbey (1830-1889) and Russell Phelps abbey (1832-1898) became partners. The firm manufactured gold foil and dental supplies
