Catharine Wood (1827-1907), daughter of Artemas and Susan (Barber) Wood of Mt. Vernon NH. Her family later moved to Groton Mass. She married Dr. George Brown (Oct 11, 1823-1891) on Nov 28, 1850. Dr. Brown, born in Wilton NH, settled in Barre Mass in 1850 after graduating from Jefferson College in Philadelphia and attending the University of New York. Mrs Brown was widely known as a writer for medical and popular magazines and has furnished copious letters for publication from her notebooks of travels in Mexico. (History of Wilton NH, p.291)
