Margaretta Catharine Bullock (c.1823-1859) was the daughter of Amos and Elizabeth (Sharp) Bullock of Mount Holly, NJ. She married, in October, 1849, William Proctor, Jr. (1817-1874), Vice President and Professor of Theoretical and Practical Pharmacy of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. He is generally considered the Father of American Pharmacy.
This letter was probably written by William Proctor while Margaretta visited her parents. Given that there are two March 12 covers, one was probably written in 1850 and the other in 1851.
