Left side of the CDS is somewhat readable. The date appears to be FEB 27.
Letter addressed to Charles William Button (Jul 7, 1822- Dec 29, 1894), a journalist, Postmaster of Harper’s Ferry (1849-1853), and representative of Jefferson County in the Virginia House of Delegates (1854). During the Civil War he was the owner and publisher of the Lynchburg Daily Virginian and, in 1875, bought the longtime rival paper, the Lynchburg Republican.
