1847 Five Cent Franklin Stamp w Cover - NO RESERVE MH1 5 Cents Scott #1
This no reserve auction is for an 1847 5 cent Franklin stamp with cover. The cancellation mark is from Portland, ME, dated 8 February and addressed to Yarmouth, ME. There are two light diagonal creases in the stamp from some creasing in the envelope. Additionally, one of the margins is a bit clipped. I believe the color is Red Brown.

Capt. James R. Dockray of Newport, RI married Mary Ann Smith Plummer of Portland Maine in Portland on July 26, 1825. James R. Dockray Jr. was born Feb 1834 and eventually became an attorney-at-law in Boston.
