Weiss certificate 26125 (1/20/14) – I have examined the enclosed 1847 5c 1847 Scott #1 Brown left sheet margin copy, used on 1849 FLS from LaPorte Ind. for W. B. Robinson and my opinion is it is a genuine usage, stamp with pen cancel, tiny stain / nick/ corner crease at LR, otherwise sound, the FLS is overall age toned & has small stain at UR. Signed W. R. Weiss Cert 26125 (Jan 20, 2014) Scott #1, brown, left margin copy used on FLS from LaPorte Indiana for W. B. Robinson and in my opinion it is a genuine usage, stamp with pen cancel, tiny stain/nick/corner crease at LR. The FLS is overall age-toned & has small stain at UR.
This is the only known 5c cover from LaPorte. There are two 10 cent covers from LaPorte in the census.
CDS is double struck and the date appears to be May 24, 1849 (docketed on back)
