This "Mineral Point W. T" cover is actually a post-territorial use, February 8, 1849, during the statehood period. Creighton C. Hart collection.
The full folded letter is intact and it is headed "Mineral Point, W.T. Jany 17, 1848." Mineral Point did not receive its first supply of stamps until August 2, 1849, so this is another case of stamps that were obtained elsewhere

Christoph Gartner sale 25 lot 6649A¨1849, 5 c. brown, slightly touch at bottom, otherwise with good to wide margins at three sides and pen cancel on folded letter with adjacent cds. "MINERAL POINT W.T. FEB. 8 in red to Madison, vertical folded, otherwise fine.
The markings on the back, In 1847 directory as 2-8-1849, were applied by Creighton Hart.
