One of two covers that are the only recorded genuine 1847 covers with the oval STEAMER postmark in the opinion of the author. Ashbrook wrote that the 5¢ cover was in the Rust Sale in February 1942. It has not appeared at auction since that time. (Ashbrook photo 188).
Interestingly, the other cover, ID #14356, was later declared a John Fox fake.

AGAIN “Steamer 10”
In the November issue of this series of this Service, I discussed at some length, the transit marking "Steamer 10" and on page 344, second paragraph from the bottom, I described a cover that came up in the Rust, sale in February 1942.which had two 5¢ 1847 stamps tied by several
strikes in red of the oval “STEAMER 10." I believe this is a most unusual and rare cover and I am pleased to be able to furnish a fine photograph of it in this Service, as per Photograph No. 186 herewith. This folded letter is dated, “Boston August 20, 1847 thus an early use of two 1847 stamps less than 1 month after issue
