1847 stamp on cover from Middlebury Vermont to Proctorville Vt dated March 3, 1848. The cover has a 30 mm cds with Middlebury as 1 word and a manuscript cancel.

The earliest examples of 1847 covers show Middlebury as 1 word, usually in a blue 30 mm CDS, with either a grid or manuscript cancel. In mid 1848, a manuscript postmark and cancellation was used while awaiting the 32/33 mm postmark reading Middle Bury in 2 words.
