1847, 5¢ red brown (Scott No. 1). Ample to large margins except clear at top right, pale shade and fine impression, tied by on-the-nose "Factory Point Vt. Jun. 1" c.d.s., repeated below , on gray undated folded letter to Londonderry, manuscript "Hon. M. Clarke" at upper right, without side flaps, still Very Fine. Estimate $1,000-1,500
THE ONLY RECORDED 1847 COVER FROM FACTORY POINT.
One of the more important Vermont 1847 covers. Factory Point received no stamps of either denomination. Unlocated for many years, this cover was rediscovered only recently in a postal history collection assembled in Belgium.
