1847 10c black Washington (Scott #2) single tied by blue grid cancels on 1851 dated folded cover from Nashville, Tennessee to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Accompanying blue June 15, Nashville, Te. circular date stamp cancel at left. Cover signed by Stanley Ashbrook on reverse. Though Nashville received 3,900 10c stamps between 1847-1851, only nineteen 10c 1847 Issue covers from Nashville (including the one offered here) are recorded. 1847 Issue covers in very fine condition from southern states are hard to find and particularly desirable.
PSE certificate 1197486(It is a genuine usage on a folded outer address sheet to Philadelphia, Pa., tied by blue circular grid cancels, with a matching blue Nashville, Te c.d.s. - the address sheet with a June 15, 1851 notation and a vertical file fold at the center.).
