#1a, 5c Dark brown, single with large to mostly very large margins all around, rich luxuriant color and a deeply etched early impression, unusually cancelled by not only a twice struck "PAID" but by a waffle grid as well, to 1849 folded letter to Wilkes Barre, Pa., datelined at Providence, R.I. but with no town postmark, stamp slightly affected by a file fold and with a small sealed tear at upper right, neither fault noted on the accompanying certificate, Very Fine and striking usage; clear 1978 P.F. certificate
