It Is A Genuine Usage OF SCOTT 1a, DARK BROWN
While the addressee certainly looks like "Wm" Farnum & Co, there is no such listing in McElroy's Philadelphia City Directory (1850 edition). Almost certainly, this letter was addressed to "Hy" Farnum & Co, an abbreviation for Henry Farnum & Co, who were merchants at 12 Chestnut Street.
