The cover was stampless with rate marking ˜5' when sent from Roxbury on 4/25/xx. The stamp was added when mailed on the Prov & Wor RR on 4/29/xx.
The 1849 edition of the Springfield & Chicopee Almanac, Directory & Business Advisor lists Rev. C. Nightingale as pastor of the Unitarian Church. Crawford Nightingale (1816-1892) was born in Providence, R.I. and served in Chicopee, Ma. From 1845 to 1851.
Dr. Edward Thompson Caswell (1833-1887) lived in Providence, R. I. He was the son of Alexis Caswell, professor of Mathematics and Natural Philosophy at Brown University as well as its President, and Ester Lois Thompson. He was a doctor of Necrology and attended Brown University in Providence (1849-53).
