Scott #1 1847 5c Franklin Stamp Tied By Philadelphia Railroad CDS On Folded Letter (280)
1847 5c red brown Franklin (Scott #1) single nicely tied by multiple strikes of a blue September 21, Philadelphia Railroad circular date stamp cancel on folded letter sent from Philadelphia to Brook Ville Post Office, Montgomery County, Maryland. 1847 Issue stamps tied exclusively by railroad circular date stamp cancels are extremely desirable and downright scarce in comparison to the common tying by grid or manuscript pen cancels. A very nice appearing piece of railroad-connected 1847 Issue postal history.
The 5-cent stamp on this cover pays the rate for a letter weighing 1/2-ounce or less sent under 300-miles. This is the perfect item for the Pennsylvania state postal history enthusiast, railroad specialist, student of 1847 Issue cancels or collector of classic U.S. covers.

I'm inclined to accept the 9/2 date instead of the 9/21 date because the ˜1' looks like inking of a gap in the date slug and the ˜2' is centered below the E. The same light image of a ˜1' appears on the cds on the stamp (see below) and (1) it is not perfectly straight and (2) is much fainter than the 2.
