Letter addressed to Mary Cushing (Gay) Robinson (1801-1885) who married Spencer Judd of Springfield in 1832 and, after he died 5 months later, married Rev. Henry Robinson (1788-1878) of Suffield in 1835. Henry served as pastor of the First Congregational Church in Suffield (1831-37). Mary’s father, Ebenezer Gay Jr (1766-1837) served as minister of the church from 1796 to 1826. Mary’s sister, Lucy Harris Gay (1810-1872) was married to Thomas Robinson Palmer, who Mary was visiting when this letter was written.
