Bob Bramwell adds: The subject letter is datelined Schenectady May 27 '50 and written by Alonzo C. Paige to his wife care of Dr. Richard Holland who, in addition to being on the staff of a "healthcare facility" in New Graeffenburgh, NY, was also postmaster at the post office opened there on April 15, 1850 as New Graefenburg. The letter makes clear that Paige sent this letter by hand to the Schenectady & Utica R.R. cars for delivery to the Route Agent and his notation "Ch. A.C.P." top left suggests that he was accustomed to run a quarterly account with the R.A. just as he did with the Schenectady P.O. Paige was when this letter was written a Justice of the NY Supreme Court.
