Aug. 18 [sic] 10 cts" integral rate circular datestamp on folded letter sheet to Lewisburg Virginia, paper with large "J.M. Wilcox Philadelphia" watermark, central vertical file fold, Very Fine, J.M. Wilcox of Philadelphia was James M. Wilcox, an American inventor known for his work in the manufacture of bank note paper, specifically the "Wilcox Paper," which was used for banknotes printed before 1877 in the United States.
