John R. Boker Jr exhibit, past 1 page 24
Alexander listed as 4/2x/xx
Robert A. Siegel sale 1228 (Gross IV) lot 514 Balance lot of 30 covers realized 11,500 (image)
Gross exhibition page notes cover dated 3/21/50 with handstamp reading Blood's Despatch 26-28 So. Sixth within a 23 mm double circle and that the handstamp was in use from early 1850 until 1851.
Gross dating is completely incorrect. CDS first letter is A and second letter has serif on top of left vertical stroke. The third letter is a G, making this cover mailed in AUG. Finally, the second digit is not a 1 but is clearly rounded at the top, making it a 2, 3, 6, 8 or 9.
