Letter addressed to William Drinker Cope (1798-1873), son of Thomas P Cope and Mary Drinker. William was married to Susan Newbold and they had 6 children. William settled in Woodbourne, established a farm, and looked after the family’s real estate holdings as well as dealing with various family financial matters. William oversaw the 25,000 acres that Thomas P. Cope had been deeded near Woodbourne, in Dimock PA. Although his father’s fortune was primarily left to his brothers, William built a large home in Woodbourne where his descendants lived for several generations.
